TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini held talks with a groups of Pakistani scholars and political figures.

Members of the National Solidarity Council of Pakistan, an alliance of 30 parties and political-religious groups, including Shias and Sunnis, attended the meeting at the Iranian embassy in Islamabad.

Hosseini hailed the council for its efforts to promote Islamic unity in Pakistan and defending Islamic principles and dignity.

He highlighted the similar political positions Iran and Pakistan hold in the Muslim world and stressed the commonalities and brotherly ties between the two nations.

He said the leaders of the two countries have close views about fighting oppression and arrogance and defending independence and national sovereignty.

Hosseini also voiced Iran’s willingness to develop and bolster ties with the neighboring country in all areas, adding, “We are enthusiastically ready to host Pakistani delegations, including religious leaders and elites, visiting Iran.”

Elsewhere, he referred to the growing Islamophobia and anti-Islam moves, including desecration of Islamic sanctities, and underlined the need for standing up against such moves.

The Pakistani religious figures, for their part, appreciated the Iranian people and government for their kindness and support and paid tribute to the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini (RA).

They also hailed Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei for his stances in support of Pakistan, Palestine, unity in the Muslim world and Kashmir.
